4 November 2021 (Port Washington, NY) VIRSIG, LLC. has announced that it is once again supporting one of America’s largest sporting events, the TCS New York City Marathon. This is the largest marathon in the world and the signature event of New York Road Runners (NYRR), the world’s premier community running organization. “This marks our eighth year supporting the marathon” said Shelomo Alfassa, VIRSIG’s Director of Communications. Starting in 2014, VIRSIG has supported the marathon with electronic security and situational awareness solutions, including live video support, networked technologies and cabling, and wireless mesh networks. Over the years, VIRSIG has provided their services at both the start line at Ft. Wadsworth in Staten Island, and at the finish line in Central Park in Manhattan; this includes establishing indoor and outdoor local area networks, and providing infrastructure to support operation of the Jumbotrons, electronic signage, IP audio and cameras.

This year, Brian Valenza, VIRSIG’s CEO and co-founder, will be running as a marathon participant. Brian, a former SEAL officer and current Ambassador for the Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF)—will be running in support of the NSF, championing awareness of the charitable organization that provides assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and its families. “Our company’s Core Values reflect our philosophy and are championed by our workforce; this includes striving to serve those who serve others,” he said.

The 2021 race marks an important milestone, as it is the 50th running of the marathon which started in 1970. The 26.2 mile TCS New York City Marathon is held annually on the first Sunday of November and includes over 50,000 runners, from the world’s top professional athletes to runners of all ages and abilities. Participants from approximately 140 countries tour the diverse neighborhoods of New York City’s five boroughs—Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. More than one million spectators and 10,000 volunteers line the city’s streets in support of the runners, while millions more watch the internationally televised event.
