VIRSIG Granted NYC Minority Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) Certification

(29Dec2020) - VIRSIG has been granted Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification through NYC Small Business Services. NYC’s MBE Certification Program's goal is to promote fairness and equity in City procurement processes by providing services designed to strengthen the ability of certified MBEs to increase their capacity and effectively contribute to the City's economy.

VIRSIG, a national technology company which focuses on security, was founded in New York City and today maintains its national headquarters in Long Island. The certification recognizes the company’s majority owner Brian J. Valenza, who is of Cherokee Native American ancestry. Brian is the CEO, and prior to co-founding VIRSIG, served as a US Naval Officer; VIRSIG Is also a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business.

The MBE program expands opportunities for minority entrepreneurs to access government contracts and grow their businesses. Through an online directory, certified businesses become more visible to prospective buyers, including city agencies and private contractors seeking to purchase goods and services. Government agencies, non-profits and for-profit companies often seek out MBEs either voluntarily or through agreements and legal mandates.

Earning the certification involved a rigorous application and review process that took 8 months. The certification is valid through December 2025.
