VIRSIG, LLC. is proud to announce that for the 5th year in a row, it will be supporting the TCS New York City Marathon, the largest marathon in the world and the signature event of New York Road Runners (NYRR), the world’s premier community running organization.
Over the years, VIRSIG has supported the marathon with electronic security and situational awareness solutions, including live video support, networked technologies including cabling (up to 6,000 continuous feet in some instances) and wireless mesh networks. VIRSIG has provided their services at both the Start Line at Ft. Wadsworth in Staten Island, and at the Finish Line in Central Park in Manhattan; this includes establishing indoor and outdoor local area networks, and providing infrastructure to support operation of the Jumbotrons, electronic signage, IP audio and cameras.

This year’s race will be the 48th running of the 26.2 mile course that has become a model for big-city marathons around the world. “The Marathon is a significant annual international event, held right here in New York City. The TCS New York City Marathon is held annually on the first Sunday of November and includes over 50,000 runners, from the world’s top professional athletes to runners of all ages and abilities. Participants from approximately 140 countries tour the diverse neighborhoods of New York City’s five boroughs—Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. More than one million spectators and 10,000 volunteers line the city’s streets in support of the runners, while millions more watch the internationally televised event.
