CCNA - Network Operations Specialist
The role of the Network Operations Specialist will be to provide analytical support in the development, installation, implementation, testing, evaluation and administration of the local and wide area networks, and to ensure that all network platforms remain highly available and secure, including governance of third-party networks that are involved in the provision of our client’s services. This candidate will also function as a desktop support staffer for internal and external Windows-based clients. This position is in the electronic security industry, which touches surveillance cameras, access control systems, etc.
Note: This is a full-time permanent position with a competitive salary ($65-$80,000 annual) with medical benefits. All legal holidays off, and office hours of 8:30-5:30. Our office is in Astoria, Queens. Serious inquiries only please.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of analytical duties in the development, installation, integration, implementation, evaluation and administration of local and wide area networks.

Install and configure network hardware, software and peripheral equipment; troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve server and networked devices hardware and software problems.

The specialist will work on normal everyday daily business in the office and will assist clients with connectivity issues on their networks through remote log-in.

You will work side by side with senior members of the team to bring future design ideas from drawings to project delivery.

Investigate, analyze and resolve network-related problems; resolve compatibility problems; recommend and implement changes and improvements.

Assist other engineers with installation, configuration and deployment work

Provide support in wide area network development and implementation; configure and install firewalls at networked locations; monitor and provide maintenance and Internet access.

Measure volume and performance of network traffic; identify and make recommendations to improve network utilization and performance issues; assist in design strategies and recommendations to improve network performance.

Contact vendors for components, technical reference and/or services required for network expansion and maintenance. Assist in documenting changes, additions, deletions and revisions to network components, wiring and facilities; prepare status reports as required.

Ability to travel to clients occasionally as required throughout New York City and Long Island via company vehicle.
Requirements:

Candidates must have CCNA or higher Cisco certification* *

Candidates must have routing, switching, firewall experience.

Experience installing and maintaining network hardware and software.

Experience working with Network monitoring/management tools.

Understanding of operations, service and activities of network systems.

Must have Microsoft / Windows Server experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with logical and/or physical security
-
Have security technology experience including low voltage systems, video management, access control experience, IP surveillance cameras or ability to learn and become certified

Have an understanding of cloud-based solutions

Experience configuring Juniper hardware & software

Demonstrable understanding of the principles and practices of troubleshooting network problems.

Familiarity with DHCP, DNS, FTP, TFTP, SSH, Radius, TACACS

Cisco ASA - IPSec VPN/RAS/Access list/NAT
-
Cisco Meraki cloud ops
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a team
